A new survey by 73 Strings and the IVSC, covering 1,321 valuation practitioners across 91 countries, highlights a widening gap between confidence in valuation capabilities and the technological infrastructure needed to support them.
While 70% of respondents are confident they could reproduce a historical valuation mark at short notice, median AI adoption remains at just 4.9 out of 10. Technology maturity is similarly lagging.
The findings point to a profession at a turning point: increasing demand for more frequent, on-demand valuations is meeting processes and infrastructure still largely built around quarterly reporting cycles.
The key challenge is no longer whether AI will shape valuation, but how firms can scale its use responsibly. Stronger governance, modern technology infrastructure and evolving professional roles will be critical as the industry prepares for the 2028 standards deadline.
The message is clear: firms need to start building now to keep pace with the future of valuation.
